Description

Description

With the success of previous two exhibitions: Tian Xing in Tibet and The Lotus of My Heart, State-Of-The-Arts Gallery proudly presents the third painting exhibition for Lam Tian Xing. These 24 exhibited paintings depict the beautiful landscape of New Territories, a district in Hong Kong where people are too busy to notice the charming scenes around them.
As a Chinese artist who was brought up in the Chinese culture, his paintings naturally show Chinese characters. Yet to him, conventional elements in Chinese art are inadequate to paint contemporary life. He keeps updating his art and associating it with everyday life. As a result you will see the distinctive brushstroke and spontaneous perspective, as well as modern architectures and patches of strong colors, which are uncommon in traditional Chinese paintings. Blissful Clouds exemplifies the passion and perception of the artist. Instead of the ordinary blue, he paints the water in red, a color loved by the Chinese people for its blissful and festive meaning.
The image is immediately brightened by the intense redness, which is rich but at the mean time transparent. The reflection of the white clouds on the red water interacts with those floating in air, making an interesting illusion. In spite of the apparently pessimistic suggestion of evanescence, the eye-catching redness and vivid image, in fact, represent not only a cheerful and promising atmosphere, but also a blessing to Hong Kong, a city where he lives and which he loves.
