Academy Dance: Tabula Rasa

Description

Description

The School of Dance, justly proud of its history in the development, training and showcasing of talented young artists, provides pathways to the dance industry of Hong Kong and beyond. Exploring an intersection between East and West, tradition and contemporary, this November season entitled Tabula Rasa, presents artistic, creative and physical challenges that enable these talented students to reach and push beyond boundaries. To witness the boundaries is exciting; to push past them is an affirmation to growth and life.

Tabula Rasa consists of five dynamic dance works featuring the three different dance disciplines within the School of Dance, Chinese Dance, Ballet and Contemporary Dance.

Chinese Dance presents The Battle Drums of Jin Shan and Wedding Mashirapu two works, which exemplify just two aspects of the traditional form, conveying insight and impressions of Chinese culture and history.

Contemporary Dance discovers intersections between time and instability in two new works this season, Under This Weight and Beyond Restraint by Artist in Residence Dam Van Huynh and Li Yongjing respectively.

The Ballet Partenope is set to impress with its new dance work that pushes the boundaries of the balletic form, created by Artist in Residence Iratxe Ansa.

This programme is dedicated to our dear friend and co-collaborator in developing dance Mr Ringo Chan.
