Academy Drama: “Luna Gale” by Rebecca Gilman

Description

Description

American playwright Rebecca Gilman’s Luna Gale will grace the stage of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in late November.

Described by the Los Angeles Times as one of the most valuable recent additions to American drama, Luna Gale tells the story of seasoned social worker Caroline, who is charged with handling the case of young drug addicted couple Peter and Karlie and their neglected baby daughter. When Caroline hands baby Luna to Karlie’s mother, a family war breaks out, pushing everyone towards a maniacal, dangerous decision.

In his staging, director Terence Chang wants the audience to consider how, in a society where resources are scarce, a safety net can be put in place for everyone
