Annual School Concert FAME – Haydn & Schumann

Description

Description

A musical odyssey from Haydn to Schumann and the hit musical Fame

HKU SPACE takes us on a rich musical odyssey across the centuries for this year’s annual school concert with an inspiring selection of classical works and Broadway hits performed by a stellar cast including baritone Totti Li, soprano Kylis Hung and the wonderfully gifted pianist Anson Tang.

The evening starts from the late 18th century with Haydn’s trumpet concerto played by Ng King-chuen, before leaping into the 20th century with hits from Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. Then, as we catch our breath, Anson Tang will sweep us back to the 19th century with the first movement from Schumann’s evocative Piano Concerto in A minor, Op.54 accompanied by the Hong Kong Strings under the baton of Professor Chan Wing-wah.

Following a brief intermission, singers from the HKU SPACE Community College, directed by Michelle Li of Rooftop Productions will complete our journey with an abridged version of the hit musical Fame – a fittingly apt story of young high school students stretching their creative wings to the delight of their audience.
