Artificial Landscape
Visual Arts

Description
Description
For this year’s Hong Kong Arts Month, SOGO Arts and Culture, in collaboration with Videotage, presents Artificial Landscape. Curated by Isaac Leung, it is an unprecedented program that will shift the landscape of one of the world’s busiest pedestrian crossing. From 4 to 31 March 2019, Artificial Landscape will present the works of four promising young artists: Carla Chan, Chilai Howard, Lawrence Lek and Shi Zheng.
Famed for its vibrant urban life, Hong Kong is a city that never stops, never sleeps. To both inhabitants and visitors alike, the overriding urban experience is one of speed, disassociation, and alienation within an endlessly dense urban jungle. In response to this, the works present various approaches to the ideas of artificiality and landscapes in order to challenge the boundaries of our habituated reality.
Utilizing CVISION, Asia’s largest digital platform of its kind, the works will be presented in a scale and location that allows direct intervention of the city’s urban landscape.
Note:This event record is compiled from "Hong Kong Visual Arts Yearbook 2019" published by Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
