Description
Description
The Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe aims to provide systematic training and performance opportunities for talented local young people to improve their artistic skills, guiding them to become the inheritors who help preserve and rejuvenate this traditional art form.
The programme is in three parts. First is a performance of excerpts from a Wen (civil) opera Luoshui Hen and a Wu (martial) opera The Warriors’s Marriage. The participants will be immersed in the genre and quickly grasp the features of Cantonese opera. The second part consists of an introduction and demonstration by actors from the troupe. The students will be taught Cantonese opera hand gestures, such as riding a horse, crossing a bridge, as well as Mandarin pronunciation for Cantonese opera. The third part is an interactive session for the students to practise simple hand gestures and Mandarin on stage.
The activities include tour concerts, workshops, lectures and finale concerts, which are suitable for the participation of the general public, especially for people with different abilities to meet different needs, providing a platform for professional performance and music learning. “Music Beyond the Boundaries” adheres to the spirit of “music without borders”, allowing art to penetrate into different corners and groups of the community.
