Description

“Sent Jing Ke off at the Yi River”
At the end of the Warring States period, Jing Ke was entrusted by Yan Prince Dan, to kill the king of Qin. At the Yi River, Prince Dan sent Jing Ke and Qin Wuyang off.

“Mistake at the Flower Festival”
Bian Ji, a poor young scholar, encounters Liu Yueying in front of the Flower Goddess Temple. Accompanied by her maid, Chunlan, the young lady is impressed by Bian’s literary talent.

“The Warrior’s Marriage”
Towards the end of the Yuen Dynasty, the warlords have divided China into many sectors. Zhu Yuanzhang orders Hua Yunlong to impersonate Zhang Ren and marry the Princess Yingping. Zhu schemes to plant a spy to infiltrate Chen’s camp. Yunlong conspires with Zhu to lure Chen and his army into an ambush where Chen is killed. When Princess Yingping discovers the plot, she vows to avenge her father’s death.

“Chuncao Barging into the Court”
The Prime Minister’s daughter, Li Banyue, and her maid, Chuncao, went to the temple and are harassed by a high-ranking official’s son, Wu Du. Xue Meiting tries to rescue Banyue and accidentally beats Wu Du to death. Meiting is arrested and Wu Du’s mother Lady Wu, asks the local magistrate to beat Meiting to death. In an attempt to save Meiting, Chuncao barges into court and makes a bogus claim that Meiting is the Prime Minister’s son-i-law but Magistrate Hu insists on verifying Meiting’s status.

“The Broken Bridge from The Legend of the White Snake”
Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing flees to Broken Bridge, the West Lake, to meet Xu Xian. After much explanation and clarification, the two finally reunite and forgive each other of all past wrongs.

“The Butterfly and Red Pear Blossoms”
Zhao Ruzhou, a talented scholar from Shandong, is in love with a famous courtesan called Xie Suqiu and they communicate by writing letters and poems to each other. One night, the drunken Ruzhou sees a red butterfly, which takes for the incarnation of Suqiu’s ghost and chases it all the way to the Red Pear Yard. Because of Qian Jizhi’s advice, Suqiu keeps her distance from him.
