Coloured Abstraction

Description

Description

State-of-the-Arts Gallery is kicking off spring with a burst of colour. Our group show “Coloured Abstraction” celebrates abstract art with three artists Linda Kamille Schmidt, Carmen Gloria Machuca and Paulina Beyer. This exhibition will take place from 10th April – 30th April 2011.
Each artist creates abstract work using vibrant colours. Linda Kamille Schmidt paints vibrant overlapping circles with a variation of painting techniques that give great depth to her work. She was born in Kansas (US) and lives in New York. She has exhibited in New York City and throughout the United States. She is also represented in collections in the United States, Switzerland, England, Japan and Hong Kong.
Carmen Gloria Machuca from Chile shows asymmetrical forms suspended in space. Her mantra is borrowed from Henri Matisse – “Sorry I don’t paint things – p a i n t i n g s ” – I do not paint things, I only paint the difference between things. She has featured in many exhibitions across Chile and has also previously exhibited in Hong Kong.
Paulina Beyer, also form Chile, uses her history of graphic design to paint colourful abstract landscapes. She says, “I get my inspiration from this crazy geography [of Chile]. Every place I visit leaves tracks in my memory which give shape and color to the trails of my journey.” Paulina has participated in a number of national and international painting exhibitions and won awards in relevant contests. Her works are found in important private collections in Chile, Italy, Argentina and Germany.
Together this eclectic mix of colour and form bring to us the vibrance of spring.
