Description
This is a story about two persons whose lives cross because of a dizi, a Chinese bamboo flute. Cuifeng has lost her memory, but she is haunted by the sounds of a tearful dizi in her head. Chixiong, though a total stranger, is doing all he can to trace her elusive lover behind the lilting music. What has caused her amnesia? Is there an earth-shaking secret behind all these? And how would she choose between Chixiong and her lover? In this co-production between the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Chung Ying Theatre Company, the dizi virtuosi will turn the flute repertoire of Chinese music which describes the beautiful landscape of China, exotic flora, birds and other living things into the enticing story created by Elton Lau, under the conducting baton of Sun Peng. The Auditorium of Kwai Tsing Theatre will be transformed into the magical world where Chixiong and Cuifeng traverse. To the lilting tunes of Happy Reunion from Shanxi, Bewilderment from Hong Kong, Happy Bumper Harvest from northeastern China, Galloping on the Grassland from Inner Mongolia, Lovers’ Sorrow from Guangdong, Music from the Mountain from Taiwan, and Four Movements on Northern Shaanxi, the drama in their lives unfold. Come share the story with Chixiong and Cuifeng as we visit the magnificent landscapes of China together.
