Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra will make its rehearsal session of The Poetic Realm of Guqin concert public so that you too can get a glimpse into the preparation behind a brilliant performance.
The concert will be held under the baton of renowned conductor Mr. Kuan Nai-chung, who served the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra as its second music director during 1986 to 1990. During this period, Mr. Kuan composed a number of hugely popular musical pieces and established the unique style of the orchestra. The talented maestro is the composer of countless widely circulated classics. The music of Mr. Kuan Nai-chung is the companion of many Hong Kong people as they grow up. His romantic melodies and touching harmonies are rooted deeply in people’s heart. Returning to Hong Kong as he turns 80, Mr. Kuan will be conducting the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra to present an array of handpicked masterpieces.
Guqin is one of the oldest plucked string instruments in China. Instrumentalist Qiao Shan will be playing Gugin at the concert.
The Orchestra will rehearse selected pieces of the concert’s programme and a brief introduction of the programme will be available.
Note: Music playing may stop intermittently to fine-tune the techniques and details of the performance during the rehearsal.
