Description
Are you tired of typical Cantopop music, and are you looking for a change? But is it possible to combine Chinese music and jazz music? And how can dance collaborate with jazz?
Presented by the Fringe Club as part of the new “Jazz-Go-Central, Jazz-Go-Fringe” project – Phase II, Jazz + is a series of cross-over performances between jazz and other genres that will happen every month from October 2018 to May 2019.
The first Jazz+ show in January will also be the official launch of the latest EP by SHAOLIN FEZ. The band will perform original Symphonic Jazz Rock music from its newly crowdfunded EP, as well as unique arrangements of popular tunes, by the 14-piece orchestra, featuring diva Jennifer Palor.
*Revenue from all sales of the new EP will be donated towards refugee relief efforts in Yemen.
SHAOLIN FEZ
“A wondrous, massive, mishmash of a group.” Time Out Hong Kong magazine
SHAOLIN FEZ launched in 2012 with the release of its album, Calm Your Storm, and made its debut at Clockenflap later that year. Featuring diva Jennifer Palor and led by HK Philharmonic bassist Samuel Ferrer, this uniquely ambitious project on the Hong Kong live-music scene has become a regular on the festival circuit, performing at the special VIP opening ceremony of the Wine & Dine Festival, and on the Clockenflap main stage in 2015. Calm Your Storm, with 22 professional musicians and a children’s choir, was mixed by one of Hollywood’s most accomplished engineers (of major films such as Frozen), and features the acoustic guitar work of a 2012 Grammy nominee. SHAOLIN FEZ has also released six music videos.
