Gallery EXIT presents Labium, a visual exploration in Bataillean obscenity featuring the works of HO Sin Tung (Hong Kong), HUANG Zheng (Beijing), MEI Zijia (Guangzhong), Ken-ichi MURATA (Japan), Angela SU (Hong Kong), and YAMAMOTO Takato (Japan).
Susan SONTAG wrote, “Bataille understood that what pornography is really about, ultimately, isn’t sex but death…Only works dealing with that specific and sharpest inflection of the themes of lust, “the obscene”, do. It’s toward the gratifications of death, succeeding and surpassing those of eros, that every truly obscene quest tends.”
