Description

Theatre Horizon Presents: New Directors’ Movement
“Mourning Becomes Electra”

A Play by Eugene O’Neill

In Cantonese with Chinese & English surtitles

‘It will be a sorrow to leave them, but not a sorrow to die.’
By Eugene O’Neill

Show Description
The war is over, the general is about to return home from the battlefield: while in the mansion, the daughter finds out that her mother has an affair and intends to report to her father and brother. The mother knows that the secret is about to be exposed. Struggling between hatred and love, she decides to assassinate the husband…Another war is now ignited within the family.

“MOURNING BECOMES ELECTRA” is another modern classic written by Eugene O’Neill. Following the DESIRE UNDER THE ELMS, he once again explored the theme of incest by telling a story between family and desire. When it comes to our generation, seeing our “family” being torn to pieces, how many memories of love do we have left?
