Description
Description
Undertaking the challenges of creating new works of their own, dancers Li Yi-ran, Yuh Egami, Ricky Hu, Kostyantyn Keshyshev and Jonathan Mangosing moved into the roles of choreographers as they created new dance works which expressed the emotions and physicality of relationships. New Moon took the audience on a journey to the past, travelling to dance duets of our time. The program opened with the timeless 19th century pas de deux in Flower Festival in Genzano by Danish master August Bournonville, a charming duet which displays the simple joy and teasing playfulness of young love. Canadian choreographer Peter Quanz, who has been making his name on the international dance scene, created Luminous, a world première for the dancers of The Hong Kong Ballet. New Moon combined original dance duet works created by The Hong Kong Ballet’s dancers, the acclaimed Peter Quanz in a world première piece, as well as a glance back into one of the classic examples in the pas de deux genre.
