Description
Pygmalion is a play by George Bernard Shaw. The story is about a language professor called Henry Higgins made a bet with his friend to train a poor flower seller called Eliza Doolittle, a girl who has the manners and accent of a working class girl act like a princess. The play is based on England in the early 20th century, reflects widening class gap between rich and poor in London at the time.
Pygmalion remains Shaw’s most popular play. The play’s widest audiences know it as the inspiration for the highly romanticised 1956 musical and 1964 film My Fair Lady.
