Description

Broadway’s longest running musical revue returns
A pop-tastic feast with star-studded local and international cast
Come dance and sing with us!

Heard of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller? No? But you do know Jailhouse Rock, right? And Stand By Me? Yeah, they wrote songs made famous by Elvis Presley, and Ben E King too.

Smokey Joe’s Cafe is a celebration of Leiber and Stoller’s music legacy. Featuring 39 of their well-loved hits, this musical revue ran for more than 2,000 performances on Broadway over five years, receiving seven Tony nominations and winning a Grammy in the process.

More than half a century on, their tunes are as powerful, universal and infectious. This revival not only stars Hong Kong’s very own international music and acting talents, it also features Deb Lyons from the Broadway cast as vocal coach.

Hong Kong Drama Awards winner Mohamed Drissi directs, bringing a 21st century interpretation to three-minute stories of love won, love lost, to teenage hopes and dreams, to home, pride and camaraderie.
