Sounding Treasures
Description
Description
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s Lingnan Music Series will present two concerts titled “Sounding Treasures” in March. Delighting the audience with the purest sounds of Chinese music will be the well-known local musicians To Wing, Chan Kwok-fai, Ho Kang-ming, Yu Siu-wah, Chan Chi-chun and Lee King-chi; the Chaozhou music virtuosi Chu Chun-keung and Hui Chun-lit; and Ng Wing-mui of nanyin fame and her protégé Leung Hoi-lee. Traditional musical instruments with real silk strings will be used in the concerts, thus bringing out the unique tone colour reminiscent of the last century. (Note: Lee King-chi will perform on March 7 only; Chan Kwok-fai will perform on March 8 only.) A delightful programme includes the Cantonese music ensemble “Autumn Moon over a Placid Lake”; the Chaozhou music ensemble “The Moon on the West River”; the Han music ensemble “Song of the West Chamber”; the strings and wind ensemble “Moonlight on the Spring River”; the nanyin “Love’s Yearning”, “Disappearing Tunes of Hong Kong and Shanghai” and “Treasures Return” arranged from Mandarin pop songs and Cantopop of the 50’s and 60’s, and more.
