Description
Description
We live in a time when snap judgment is celebrated. The habitual quick browsing mode renders simulating thinking, seeing and making invisible and incomprehensible. This exhibition includes works by twenty-five young image-makers from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University and Department of Photography, Chung-Ang University, South Korea. The artists collectively decide to take a step back, retrieve themselves from the image-making: the nature and essence of photography and image, past and future, to see and to be seen, subjective seeing and objective seeing, positive space and negative image, figuration and abstraction, self-identity, emotion and our relationship with the world. The artists do not respond to a particular ‘theme’. They address their concerns, curiosity and commitments to the experimental-oriented and processual approach of conceptual photography. The exhibits re-define how we describe a particular visual medium so as to amplify the contemporary condition of photography and image.
Note:This event record is compiled from "Hong Kong Visual Arts Yearbook 2018" published by Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
