Description
“Life is Fickle, Just like Pickles”
An Experimental Comedy Riding on the Korean Wave with a Touch of Zen
The story gets its inspiration from the most celebrated line in The Diamond Sūtra (in Sanskrit: Vajracchedika Prajnaparamita Sūtra) – “All conditioned phenomena are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow”. Be it the pickled kimchi, instant noodles, or cooked rice in hot water…Life is like a drama; a drama is like a dream, an illusion.
A Mainland food company owner by the name of “Han Fang” (literally meaning Korean Wave) who has been greatly inspired by the Buddhist scripture The Diamond Sūtra invites top-ranking agencies from Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and Seoul to come up with advertising strategies to launch a new kimchi product called “The Kimchi Dream”. The four creative teams devise their own unique plans to pitch for the contract, creatively linking Buddhism and “Kimchi”. The resulting interplay of Zen and business opportunity, the universality of eating culture, the impermanence of consumption and the hollowing nature of desire all unfold in kimchi of various sizes and the convenience of instant noodles.
