Wood-Fired Ceramics Exhibition

Description

Description

In the course of the residency in Academy of Visual Arts, Tetsuya Ishiyama led a group of 22 students to experience the art of wood-fired ceramics and Japanese “Chawan”. Through building and using a wood-firing kiln, Ishiyama passed on the Japanese wood-firing technique, giving a rare chance to the students to merge the exquisite natural ash glaze formed by wood-firing into their ceramics pieces. Their works, either in the form of “Chawan” or ceramics sculpture, will be showcased in the exhibition alongside with a series of documentation of the whole process of kiln building and wood-firing.
